Exporting Biological Material from Türkiye: The Permit Path

Human-origin biological material cannot simply be handed to a courier in Türkiye. Export is regulated by Ministry of Health legislation on the transfer of biological material, and the export process runs through the ministry's official system before any courier accepts the shipment.

How the path runs

• The sending institution or licensed intermediary files the export application with the required annexes (sample details, receiving laboratory, purpose)
• Review covers the destination country, the receiving laboratory's standing, and the material description
• Approvals are issued per shipment — quantities and dates are specific, not generic
• Customs clearance references the export approval; mismatches stop the shipment
• Realistic timeline: file early — permit lead time, not flight time, usually sets the ship date
